Impasto Portrait of Recognition

An extraordinary oil portrait captures the essence of a man through meticulous detail and vibrant color fields. The palette-knife technique enhances the textured richness of the piece, while the contrasting background colors draw focus to the subject's gaze.

FACE MATCH IS THE TOP PRIORITY. This is the exact man in the attached reference photo - not a lookalike. Copy the reference face feature by feature - hairline, hair, brows, eye shape and spacing, nose, lips, jawline, beard pattern and density, skin tone - every proportion identical, so anyone who knows him recognises him instantly; do not beautify, broaden or genericise. From the reference keep only the face and hair.

ART: a palette-knife oil portrait - thick impasto ridges, every stroke a physical slab of paint, canvas texture honest. FIELD LAW: the background is two clashing colour fields of knifed paint splashes meeting behind him, and those field colours fleck onto the shoulders, collar and outer hair edges ONLY - never across the eyes, brows, nose or mouth; the core of the face is painted in clean true skin tones with every reference feature and proportion exact, eyes their real size with one thick white paint-dab catchlight each, the face held frontal-to-three-quarter and the brightest, most resolved area of the canvas. Fields: knifed crimson camera-right, cold teal camera-left. Tight head crop, neck slabs in shadow tones, hands out of frame below the crop. The reference beard pattern built stroke by stroke in fine knife work, hair short and ridged, the hairline exact. GAZE: eyes locked on one fixed point far camera-left beyond the frame, face turned three-quarter toward camera-left so eyes and nose lead the same way, both eyes visible with their paint-dab catchlights. Expression: the hunt just before it begins, nostrils set, mouth closed. Implied light from upper-left. Vertical 4:5. Only this one person. No text anywhere.

LIGHT LAW: the face is lit only by this scene's own light - one consistent direction and warmth shading every element of the image, never a pasted studio face.

FINAL CHECK: compare the face against the attached reference - the identity must match exactly; if any feature differs from the reference, it is wrong.

How to use this prompt

Provide a clear reference photo of the man whose face is to be replicated, ensuring that all facial features are visible for comparison. The artwork should focus solely on his face and hair, capturing all details precisely as described in the prompt. A successful result will exhibit unmatched likeness to the reference, with no distractions or deviations in facial proportions. If the likeness is off, ensure that the reference details are more closely matched in the execution of the painting.
